Our Church Building is Consecrated!

September 21, 2024
His Grace, Bishop Gerasim, with many priests and other clergy participating, came to Holy Cross to consecrate our church building!

In a glorious 4-hour service, the altar table was washed and prepared, the holy relics of Saint Basil (Vasily) Martysz were sealed in the table, and the table was consecrated. The church building was also blessed and consecrated.

Our beloved Deacon George was elevated to Protodeacon, and Stephen and Benjamin were tonsured Readers. After the consecration, we were blessed to participate with His Grace, Bishop Gerasim, in a Hierarchal Divine Liturgy in our newly consecrated church building! At the conclusion of the service, Father Christopher and the Holy Cross parish were blessed with a Synodal Gramota (a document signed by the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America) for the long, arduous process of buying the land, funding the project, and designing and building our new church. The members of the Building Committee were blessed with Gramotas from the Bishop for their many years of faithful service.

The celebrants and the faithful then gathered for a sumptuous celebratory banquet, with talks about the history of the parish and the church building project, toasts and blessings, and joy all around.

Many thanks to Sergey for these lovely photographs!
