Phase One is Complete!

December 21, 2025

John Jurewicz worked until midnight Friday finishing the banding and toweling around the nave before leaving for home. Phase one of our iconography program is now complete! While the columns and small spaces above them were not painted this time around for logistical reasons, we gained the beautiful banding and toweling around the nave.

Saturday afternoon before Vespers, Reader Andrew took Father Christopher up in the lift to bless the iconography in the dome. Father Christopher reflected on that experience:

It was amazing moving up into that space. I felt as if I was entering into the worship of God in the time outside of time surrounded by the angels and the prophets. Beholding Christ in his glory as the ruler of all and Emmanuel, God with us. I felt as if I couldn’t take it all in. The glory and the beauty was almost too much to bear. It reminded me of the hymn we sing on the feast of the transfiguration, “the Lord revealed his glory to his disciples as far as they could bear it.”

We’ve witnessed a remarkable transformation of our temple over the past month, and we’re eager for the next phase to begin!

Glory to God for all things!
